More Info On Microchips

A microchip is a radio-frequency identification transponder that carries a unique identification number, and is roughly the size of a grain of rice. ... The microchip is injected under the loose skin between your dog's shoulder blades and can be done in your vet's office. It's no more invasive than a vaccination. A microchip is hands down the BEST way to ensure your pet will make it safely home if they are lost.

A microchip is not a GPS. The animal must be scanned and the number looked up in order to find owner information. Owner information MUST be kept current!

You can look up any brand of microchip at petmicrochiplookup.org! If you have found a pet, please have it scanned for a microchip at your local vet or shelter.
