Senior for Senior Program

Our Senior for Senior foster program is all about senior citizens rediscovering the joys of having a cat or dog in their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of animals can I foster?

The types of animals in this program include senior animals who would rather wait for adoption in a home rather than in a shelter.

What is the time commitment?

The length of foster varies based on the needs of the animal and the time it takes for the animal to get adopted. You will receive an approximate duration before you commit to an animal, and we will match you with a pet that works with your schedule, availability, and interests.

What are the benefits?

  • Research suggests that companion animals can help improve physical and mental health. By fostering and spending time with a pet, you may experience the benefits of lowered stress levels.
  • Cats and dogs provide friendship which an older person may miss if family is far away or not around on a regular basis.
  • The company of a beloved pet has been proven to reduce depression and help people deal with loss and grief.
  • The quiet home of a senior citizen is the perfect match for an older animal looking for a new home and a less stressful environment.
  • Senior animals are often a gentler, calmer companion and usually are already trained.

Does Saving Grace provide supplies?

Saving Grace will provide most of the supplies needed to care for your foster pet, including food, bedding and enrichment items. The foster provides love and company to the pet!
